YouTube Launches New Explore Tab To Help Out Creators
YouTube is all about giving the best video viewing experience everywhere, and the app is doing everything it can to make the experience better. YouTube is known for experimenting with new features, and these appear only to a certain number of users. YouTube does not test out these features on the beta version but does so in the official version.
YouTube is testing yet another new feature, and this time it is to help videos being shared or viewed much easier. YouTube has released a new feature, the Explore tab. The Explore tab offers viewers a more diverse set of videos to share or watch.
It is not very YouTube-like to share about new features that it has been testing, but the company is taking efforts in making better the communication between itself and creators. The company through its official channel, also called the Creator Inside channel is now offering weekly updates, responses to creator feedback and also behind-the-scenes information on product launches or newer features.
Explore Tab
So, why are you not able to access the explore tab? Because this feature is available only with 1 percent of YouTube users, and with iPhone YouTube users in particular. So, unless you are that special 1 percent, don’t expect to see this feature soon.
So, what can you find in the explore section? The whole tab is designed differently and reminds us of Instagram’s style of doing things. There are sections like Home, Explore, Subscriptions, Activity, and Library.
The purpose of the Explore tab is simple. Just as the name implies, Explore offers YouTube viewers a wider selection of videos to watch, and also offers personalized video recommendations.
But that is not it. YouTube will also try to offer you types of videos that you have never seen nor you have ever encountered. But that does not mean that random videos just pop out of nowhere. Think of it this way. If you see videos on telescopes, then you might be recommended to see videos on high-end cameras and lenses.
This new tab will mean a lot not just to Youtube video consumers, but also to YouTube video creators. The Explore tab will widen the scope, and make it easier for viewers to not only watch videos from the big names, but also from small creators as well.
Looming Threat
But why such a change now? YouTube has received a pretty dangerous threat from Instagram by the release of IGTV, and many creators have jump shipped to that platform. Though YouTube is still the big name for videos, it is not a bed of roses for small creators. They still have to fight their way out against all the big names to reach the top of the ladder.
Instagram has promised to be kind to creators, and YouTube to wants to show the same attention to creators. Other than just playing it cool by launching the new Explore tab, YouTube also went ahead and paid its top creators some huge bucks in exchange of the assurance that they will post and share their videos only on YouTube.
The company has assured that this feature would be made public to everyone only after analyzing the feature at present with this limited audience. In this experiment, it can be plainly seen that the company is interested in buying Instagram when coming to video creating and sharing, and to continue to be the only name in the video market.
