Virtual Assistant Referee is brining precision to FIFA 2018

It hurts when your favorite team is being played by the opponent. Millions of people are watching the game, 1000’s of cameras are recording the game, 100’s of officials monitoring the activities and still,

“There are mistakes”

We cannot blame the referee or the officials for making a bad decision, because it’s pretty hard to understand and take a decision right from the point. Once the decision is taken, it’s really hard to pull it back.

But we can do something else.

Virtual assistant referee is just like a third umpire in cricket and many other games. It’s a point where a number of professionals monitor the game from nook and corners with the help of broadcasting cameras and other very highly equipped cameras to help the referees on the ground.

No, the officials in VAR room cannot take a decision, they can only help the referee do well via communication.

The technology is well built in the ground the via voice communication. The referee’s can come review the video from the VAR review area to take better decisions. Also, the VAR room is constantly in communication with the referee’s to help them understand the what’s happening on the ground more precisely (which definitely helps in making good decisions).

It definitely hurts when you see a bad decision from the referee which might even put your favorite team into trouble. Those types of decisions will lead to controversy and hatred at the end of the story, so FIFA is trying to make the decisions more precise (they are not looking for 100% precision), with these technologies.

The VAR room is also in communication with the commentators, so that the viewers are properly alerted about the situation on the ground. FIFA wants to make football tournaments more honest, and it’s really interesting to see growth in the technologies which could save a team.
