Twitter To Change It’s Feed Algorithm To Chronological

Why does almost everyone have a love-hate relationship with Instagram? That would be because of its algorithm. Instagram has all the features a photo lover needs, but the app uses an algorithm that shows all the trending and top posts first, then showing them in a chronological order. Other apps also started following that trend, but there is a change coming to that.

Twitter was one of the popular apps that followed this particular algorithm, and though it stuck to just that algorithm for a while, the Twitter community lashed out, and they wanted the good old chronological feedback. But at the same time, there were also many who wanted to get to the top and trending tweets fast.

Welcome Change

So, Twitter decided to be in the middle ground and decided to play well by both sides. So what the company did is that it put up an option that gives users the option to decide on how they want to view their tweets. This is not an official rollout but is a small testing feature. Right now this is being tested out by a small number of iOS app users at present.

Product lead Kayvon Beykpour said that the feedback was welcome, and many enjoyed using this new feature. And that actually makes sense. Many depend on seeing chronological apps to check out their friend’s tweets and posts, and these tweets might not be raging hot or trending and so it does not make sense to look into that setup to check out your friend’s tweets.

Positive Response

This gesture is actually showing that the company cares for its user’s experience and not just for the number of users who use Twitter. While the Twitter community were celebrating over this, many questioned if Instagram would also do the same and make the user experience much more pleasurable.
