OneDrive To Launch New Feature That Transcribes Videos

Microsoft is truly upping its game with OneDrive. The company is bringing in all sorts of bells and whistles to the service, and it does not seem that it wants to stop. In a recent blog post, the company has announced plans to take the service forward. This time, Microsoft is adding the feature of automatic transcription of video and audio files on OneDrive.

Though this feature might seem not that necessary, think about it, about the various times when we wanted to search for a particular part in a video or audio, but we don’t know where it is in the video. We go forward and backward double tapping the video left and right, or worse, scroll through the comments or description, hoping that someone has bookmarked that particular scene or sequence.

New Addition

Well, now that is not needed, as this new service from Windows allows videos to be transcribed, thus leading to a much easier way of getting what is needed from a video or audio file. This new feature is something that is very much needed, in terms of both technology and accessibility. But, as always, there is a catch. These audio and video files can be transcribed only if they are on OneDrive.

This service relies heavily on artificial intelligence to go through the particular audio or video file, and then transcribe it. Microsoft is once again pairing with Steam for this service, and it is planning now to take on YouTube as this service would be exclusive to files that are backed up to OneDrive.

Various New Features

With artificial intelligence, a good cloud storing technique and tons of software in the back of its hand, this is a feature that YouTube might find very hard to beat. And not only that, but Microsoft is also assuring of the most relevant files, according to one’s personal or work habits. Now, how does OneDrive do that?

Let’s say, for instance, that you are working on a picture while working. Once done with that particular picture, OneDrive will suggest you share that picture with your boss or colleague. OneDrive analyses the time when that particular project was worked on, and considering your past work timings, OneDrive would then auto suggest you share that pic.

All these features are giving Microsoft an upper hand in the world of work and teams. At a time when the time is of the essence, features like these help in a large way. And now people would do anything for things to get done easily. No specific date has been assigned to this project or feature, and for now, the only date is “later this year’”
