Apple Acquires New Tool To Find New and Upcoming Artists
Music is something that was always driven us for the better. Out of all the music services out there, one of the most functional and popular is Apple Music. And that is obvious. For the services that the music streaming service offers, it would be hard to believe if it would not be this popular. But great services always come with a price. And Apple has been earning some big bucks from this service alone.
But seems like that is not enough for Apple. The company earns its big bucks from its exclusive contracts with top artists, but the company is already on the lookout for the next top singer. And that is why Apple just acquired Asaii, a music analysis company. Asaii filters social networks and platforms like Spotify or Deezer to identify upcoming artists. Its complex and real smart algorithms make it easy for the company to keep artists under the scanner, then the company doing it for themselves.
New Acquisition
That is not the only main feature of Asaii. Asaii’s main product is a collective dashboard that pulls data not just from music services, but also from social media. This thus shows useful data like helping record labels plan marketing campaigns and also live tours. But of course, the feature that makes the company standouts is the feature that allows artists to be found even before they make it big.
Asaii believes that this acquisition will give the company the opportunity to scale up their impact on music and also help them in shaping a secure future for the music industry. Key members of the Asaii team are now termed as Apple employees on LinkedIn. And that shows how both the companies are teaming up to bring out a change to the music industry.
Tough Competiton
And it is vital for Apple to make such changes as Spotify has already begun to expand its branches to reach beyond traditional mainstream artists. Spotify announced that last month that it is now letting unsigned artists upload music directly to the platform. And this is a huge upgrade to the platform to let minor or up and upcoming performers to come out and show what they are made of to the world.
By giving performers such a platform, the company is also showing that the company cares for artists, and seems like Apple Music wants to mimic the same. Apple is also tapping into Asaii’s feature to produce a recommendation algorithm that streaming services can use to suggest music related to listeners based on their existing preferences.
