Netflix Tests Feature of Showing Promos Between Shows
Do you enjoy the ads that show up on YouTube? You are enjoying a gunny or informative video, and then you are shown an advertisement that shows a food delivery app. Gets on our nerves, right? Well, if that bugs you, then you might soon very well hate Netflix too.
Netflix has begun to show ads for its original content that the company likes to call as “commercial breaks”. But truly, that is nothing but promos. This new feature was reported by ARS Technica and was shown that Netflix is testing this new feature by showing promos for original shows and movies between shows and seasons.
A representative from the company stated that Netflix conducts multiple tests each year, and this thus helps users to use the platform much better. This new feature of showing commercials is also seen in the same way, and the company sees this new feature as a help for users to check out new shows and content on Netflix.
Quick Promos
These promos are skippable, the company has confirmed. As we all know, most of us scroll through endless videos and content to decide which show they would see. But when promos or mini trailers are shown, users would have the knowledge on the shows that are available on the platform and thus they would be able to make decisions faster.
But such claims from the company has not been taken well by users who turned to social networks to complain about all the new changes that are being undertaken in the platform at present. The worse part for users is that one cannot opt out from such testing. Many users complained that being a paid service, one has the right to opt out of ads and see the only content that they are there for.
Recent Changes
Many have also made claims that they would cancel their subscriptions and accounts from Netflix. That is bad news for the company as the company has already reported disappointing second-quarter results this year, and the company is slowly losing its hold on the market. This new move is seen as a way for the company to strengthen itself once again.
Many new competitors have emerged, and Netflix now more than ever needs users to go through the wide range of content that they have. The Netflix stock plunged to its lowest level in more than 3 months on Wednesday, and so the company is fighting through the water to regain its lost position.
