Microsoft webmail breach exposed email addresses and email subjects
Microsoft confirmed to TechCrunch that data compromisation has happened within their webmail system. The webmail system was breached by cybercriminals using the user credentials of a customer support representative. The company does not have a clear idea about the number of accounts being compromised, but there are few data points which has been breached without a doubt.
The event happened between January 1st and March 28th. Though the breach did not expose any sign in credentials or sensitive data but definitely compromised few data points such as email subjects, email addresses, names, and custom folder names. Approximately 772 million email addresses are being breached, which makes it huge.
Keep an eye on your webmails, because it’s never safe anymore on Microsoft.
