Imagine a world without Google – Does it work?

Imagine a world without Google! It is possible? Even if it actually feels possible, start thinking of a world without Google Maps, Google Pay, Google Flights and most importantly Google Search. Google has more than 90% market share of all search around the globe.

Domination

Yes, Google is kinda monopoly when it comes to search and the brand has already captured various products including YouTube to capture the other side of the market. People say YouTube is the next search engine, but unfortunately the so called YouTube itself is owned by Google.

Even though several government organisations including the European Union has worked out various issues regarding Google’s privacy policy, Google still stay strong no matter what pressure is being put by powerful organisations around the world.

Australia

Recently, Google had to kick-start an issue with the Australian government regarding a new plan introduced by the government. Australian government came up with a digital media code which consist of a plan where giants like Google and Facebook should kick off a deal with local publishers to use their content on their search results or news feeds.

In this case, Google and Facebook will have to pay a certain amount of payment to local publishers and broadcasters to get content listed on their feeds or search. Alphabet has clearly opposed the code and addressed that the new code isn’t practical to them.

Alphabet Inc, the company which owns Google clearly mentioned that the Google search will be pulled off from Australia if the government proceeds with the new law. Well, that’s a threat and the Prime Minister of Australia clearly stated that “People who want to work with that in Australia, you’re very welcome. But we don’t respond to threats”.

Kind

Well, this is a first of its kind war between Google and the Australian government to come to a conclusion where both agrees or disagrees. The decision is yet to arrive and the heat is completely huge. If Google remove its search engine from Australia, things will get really messed up for Australians considering they use Google for 95% of the search activities.

If things go wrong, Australians might have to say good bye to Google and that will create a new chaos? Let’s wait and watch!
