Google Chrome Brings Update That Stops Ads and Pop-Ups

Google has always been against advertisements, and it has been showing that through Chrome. The company has been stepping up its fight against websites that use pop-ups, and also websites that redirect users to other malicious websites. Though Chrome had already placed a ban on a few suspicious websites, now Google is stepping up its fight and taking things to a whole new level.

Google Chrome would now block all ads on sites that tend to consistently show pop-ups and uses redirects to other websites. The company has decided to play it safe and has mentioned that a very small number of sites would be blocked in this manner. But Google has also decided to show mercy too. The company won’t just block these ads but will give website owners 30 days to bring forward adjustments and avoid these tactics.

Functional Update

Now, will this pose as a problem to these websites? Yes. But are these websites likely to fight back? That is very unlikely as these sites depend predominantly or exclusively on Google. And so if they lift even a finger in protest, Google is likely to make sure that these websites and services would be shut down.

Google has also noted that most phishing and scam sites use such methods to swipe or steal data. Now that is a grave and serious concern. Google has always been careful of data, and the company does not tolerate sites and apps that violate that underlying principle that the company strives to live by.

No Ads Allowed

It is significant that these websites be blocked by the company due to only these ads, based on the nature of the site, and not just on these offending ads. Google is also sure that these websites would take the needed or necessary action until Google drops the hammer on them.

But for all those users out there who would still prefer the old option to allow websites to redirect ads or show pop-up’s, they can always revert back to the old settings and opt for it.
