Facebook will show brands and media content on news feed
Facebook as a social media network is very keen about user behaviours and user feedbacks regarding the primary part of the website which is news feeds. The news feeds consists of updates and posts from friends, family members and updates from brands and media pages as well.
End of Fil Explorer
Facebook is very much in love with testing new features in feeds and other parts of the website, the live video feature and the reactions feature was super successful according to facebook (stories didn’t do well).
So they keep on making their algorithm better and better by testing them in a certain region or within a certain group of people. Recently they ended up one of their unsuccessful testing called Fil explorer which was primarily developed to make the news feed better.
When we scroll through our facebook feeds, we usually see a bunch of ads which are kinda interesting for us. Facebook keeps track of us to show interest based ads to improve the brand’s business and also to make us feel comfortable with ads.
The Fil explorer test was conducted in certain regions to check whether users are interested in seeing more brand updates or more updates from their personal relationships like friends and family members.
We don’t know a lot about the results, but they decided not to exclude the brands from news feeds. They cannot really remove all the brand updates and advertisements or media updates from Facebook completely, because they make a living with the ads and a lot of consumers are eagerly waiting for brand updates as well.
Understanding
We cannot call this testing a completely unsuccessful one, because they might have learned a lot of insights from the results and user behaviours. They will surely use these insights to improve their ad management algorithms and news feed algorithms.
It’s so good to hear that facebook is trying hard to improve their system day by day, it also helps people to stay connected with their friends and families in a more comfortable way and at the same time facebook and other brands can profit out of it (at the end of the day, it’s a business).
Facebook will surely grow further in the years to come, they’ll keep on improving their system to keep the users tight to their smartphones, they’ll also come up with brilliant algorithms to improve the user experiences. Let’s hope for the best and support facebook for its betterment (only if you love facebook).
