Facebook to Launch Facebook Lite for iOS

Facebook is under fire. The social network has faced attacks over attacks from all directions, and when things seem to be getting better, another problem comes up. But still, despite all this, the social network is still up and functioning, and is even releasing new apps.

Facebook has been putting all hands on deck. It is currently testing out its Messenger app, it has redesigned its Facebook app, and it has also pumped up its features by adding new and new functional tools. And it does not seem that Facebook is willing to slow down.

Major Features

Facebook Lite is an application that was aimed at lower-end Android phones. This app offered users a pared-down version of the original social network experience. Now it is reported that Facebook is working on a similar Lite application for iOS. This app which currently is in testing is yet another shot for Facebook to do better with its services.

This slimmed down 5MB version of the app was originally meant for slow or old phones that didn’t have the processing power of bigger and better flagship handsets. The app used way less power and battery to run and even made sure that very less data was used by the device. Facebook launched this app first on Android, being the more popular mobile software used in the world.

Worldwide Launch

The US version of this app is still under testing. The iOS version was first spotted by SensorTower, an analytics firm based from Turkey. Right now this app does not seem to be available in the US. The iOS app seems to be available only in select regions, according to the Facebook Help Section. But it is not yet clear as to when will this app be made available worldwide, and also in which specific regions.
