Amazon to discontinue it’s Dash buttons

When the Internet of things industry was booming, Amazon developed a quirky Dash button which works with the IoT technology to trigger orders when basic necessity products run out.

Imagine you’re in the toilet, and you’re about to take out the last paper in the roll. Well, if you had the amazon dash button right there stuck near the toilet paper roll, you could’ve just clicked it and the order will be generated.

Products like detergent, toilet rolls, and even underwears could be purchased with the click of a button. The idea was to make it easier for consumers to order necessary products whenever stock runs out. Just a click will automatically order the product via your smartphone and boom, you’ll get the refill done.

Amazon is discontinuing the dash buttons but will continue to serve consumers who are already using it for purchases. Sales of the buttons are closed since February 28, 2019, to make sure they don’t get spread from March.

The dash buttons are useless when consumers are comfortable ordering via the Amazon Echo or some other smart assistant who at least reply to your command with a confirmation. In such an existing eco-system, the dash buttons might look cool, but consumers will find it useless.
