Six-legged Robot To Help Plants To Get The Right Amount of Sun
Ever had the terrible situation of seeing your plant dry up in the sun? But there is nothing much that can actually be done about it. You put up a shade, your plant does not get the needed sunlight and dies, you remove the shade and your plant whitters in the sun. and forget about ordinary ornamental plants.
Plants like orchards and the lot need to have just the right amount of sunlight, and sometimes even need to be carried to the shade. But one cannot always carry plants here and there can they?
Well, that’s where HEXA comes in. This six-legged robot can carry and look after a potted plant that can be placed on its back. What does this robot do? Well, HEXA seeks out and carries the plant on its back to the sun when needed, but when it feels that it has had enough it retreats back to the shade.
Specifications
The robot is well built and is capable of hoisting and carrying around a plant like that. The robot is equipped with an infrared 720p camera that has night vision too. The robot is equipped with three motors, and the robot has an overall 19 sensors. This helps the robot to move around searching for either sunlight or shade without bumping on to anything.
One can’t place an actual flower pot atop the robot as the robot comes with a dual-layer flower pot that gives a place for the plant to sit, and also replaces the robot’s plastic shell.
The robot is also intelligent to realize when it needs water and does a little dance to signify that water needs to be poured. This is an amazing utility as it does not need you to remember when did you last water the plants, and so this is a really great robot for all the plant and nature lovers out there.
Co-exist
But the most interesting thing is that this robot shows that technology and nature can co-exist even at a very personal level. Technology can actually help nature in its survival, and vice versa. The inventor of this robot, Tianqi explains that plants are the only creatures that have a very limited freedom. From a sapling to a fully grown plant, most plants don’t move at all but only expand.
So this robot could do exactly that, and basically, it would also be fun to see little robots carrying and moving plants in a garden. There is both looks and functionality going on here.
